藍綠朱頂和阿根廷朱頂

This is a well reticulated form native to drier regions of Minas Gerais State in south-eastern Brasil.  This particular form is also distinguished by the much larger flowers and foliage than any other forms.  In the wild, bulbs grow on fully exposed hillslopes, up to 800 m.  Foliage is bluish-green in colour (i.e. glaucous) and hence the specific epiphet applied to this taxon.

... and this one from north-western Argentina is now in full bloom for me.  It is another taxon of the "azucena" group with creamy white trumpets to 5+ inches long and is closely allied to H. solandriflorum and H. brasilianum.  Flowers emit a faint vanilla scent.  I have pollinated the flowers and see if it turns out to be a self-compatible species, fingers crossed.

阿根廷朱嘅顏色幾特別,好靚啊

紅色那品種很特別.
白色那朵較像百合花.

不少朱頂蘭很像百合花。在原產地，當地人就稱朱頂蘭做百合。一般朱朱都適應香港氣候，但個別品種，如： H. angustifolium (阿根廷草葉朱)， H. anzaldoi (玻利維亞安素代朱)， H. calyptratum (巴西綠朱)， H. doraniae (委內瑞拉多拉朱)等種植時要特別注意氣温及水份。一般港人仍為朱頂蘭體型大，佔大量空間。其實也有較小型品種，例如： H. blossfeldiae 和 H. puniceum 絕對適合一般香港狹窄居住環境。
