士童是仙人掌科,裸鄂球属,是夏型种,开白花,原产巴西南部及乌拉圭北部。生长期6---9月, 直根性小型种，植株扁球形，象小型的星球属品种，体柔软多汁，绿褐色，棱10-15条，棱脊低平，初为红色，后变黑，花黄色，花檐短，被褐色单毛，闭花受精，果实多汁，果壁厚。

士童是仙人掌中的一种，株形小巧秀气，在阳光照射下，植株变成紫红色，异常美丽。栽培用疏松的砂质土壤，冬季温度要在5℃左右，繁殖多用播种。士童属种类比较多，植株扁球形或柱形，株形各异，阳光照射下会变成紫红色，日常养护需强一点的散射光，适当加大空气湿度，若使其开花就要从孕蕾至开花期间适当增加直射光的照射，生长期4----5天浇一次水.生长期4----5天浇一次水。
