To answer shortly ...
Nepenthes can be divided into highlander, intermediate and lowlander according to the altitude of their original habitats.
Different altitudes represent different temperature ranges and you can choose particular plants according to your own environment.
Say, lowlanders grow best in hot summer time and you can grow them outdoors without problem. On the other handr, you have to beware of low temperature in winter time. Perhaps you have to take the plant back indoors or cover it up with a plastic bags so that it can survive in cold weather.
On the contrary, highlanders live happily in cold winter time but may need some kind of coolings in summer.
The best solution is culture of intermediate plants which can live in both winter and summer time although extreme temperatures have to be avoided.
