would you mind sharing what environment should be provided to make them open, please

I forgot to tell that I am in Toronto. This Cyp. is native to Canada and it is cold hardy. it requires well-drained, sandy, slightly acid (pH-value 6.0-7.0) soil that is rich in humus. I grow it with the soil mix of 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 sand and 1/3 perlite. Partial shade light (I grow under a cherry tree). With a minimum amount of care, the plant multiplied into bunches in few years.

Cyp are something that are cool growing. They cannot survive in HK without cooling ~

I think you can try growing some Disa which are also beautiful and charming but cool growing as well ~

Thanks for your sugguestion. I did try to grow the Disa uniflora, however it's kind of unsuccessful.  I use either rain water or reverse osmosis water and keep it moist always. I don't know what's wrong with it, the plant still alive but getting smaller and smaller.  请赐教。。。。

You got wonderful cypripedium which we can only dream of cultivating them in HK. I am jealous!! Looks like you are kind of an expert. Hope to see more of your shares and learn more from you

Thank you... thank you everybody for the warm welcome. I did grow orchids for a long time. 當然死在我手上的蘭花也不少 , 所以從中倒學會了一點點。

其實現在Toronto夏天都好熱， 周不時有三十幾度， 不過冬天仍然好凍， 冰天雪地.  我今年一月返過香港.... 香港都好凍，你們肯定香港不能種這種地生拖鞋嗎？

It depends, mostly around 60% to 70%. We have30C today and the relative humidity is 84%.

thx for your info. hk mostly 30+c and 80+%, this may be the difference.

btw, cyp is rare in our market for trying too.
